Do You Know Fuel Filter?
All vehicles, regardless of engine type (traditional or diesel), have a fuel filter, which is cleaned before the oil reaches the engine. This dirty work makes the filter particularly prone to debris, which helps to look for warning signs when clogged as soon as possible.
The most common sign of a clogged fuel filter is the inability to start the car, as this will drain the oil supplied to the engine. Although a dirty fuel filter will cause difficulty in the ignition, a completely clogged filter will completely fail and the engine will not start.
If you step on the accelerator and accelerate but the speed does not change, it may be that the car's air inlet filter is dirty.
Often idling and splashing water
In many cases, the engine will start normally, but when you try to stop, it will shut down. This means that when you are driving, you have enough oil to pass through the filter, but when the car is idling, it becomes weaker.
In addition, if the car splashes water at low speed, the fuel filter may be slightly clogged, indicating that the filter element needs to be replaced urgently.
If your car emits heavy smoke, this may be a sign that your fuel filter is dirty. This may also mean that other destructive problems are also at work. In any case, the smell means you should get a professional to check as soon as possible.
Engine fire/poor performance
Usually, a weak fuel filter can cause the engine to catch fire. In this case, a quick cleaning will help, but you may also need a complete replacement. In addition, if fuel efficiency starts to drop or engine performance is abnormal, a new filter may be required.
Even without these symptoms, you can perform a quick quality check by disassembling and blowing in the fuel filter. If the air passes through, this is a good habit. If not, it needs to be replaced.
